Magician: The Veiled Earth #1 by Aaron S. Gallagher
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Published: September 10, 2016
Summary from Goodreads:Magic exists. Magic is real.
Magic is the most addictive drug that man has ever encountered.
Framed for the murder of her husband, Miranda Valdecourte knows she's innocent. She didn't murder Marcus, but someone else did, and they used magic. She knows not to bother trying to convince the police of what really happened. She knows she needs a magician. She knows she needs the best.
Valentien Dunne is that magician. He's powerful, willful, and he does not take kindly to people abusing what he sees as the single most important thing that exists. Dunne is also a junkie, addicted to magic.
Miranda has very little time to find him and convince him to help before her case is hopeless. If she can convince him. If she can find him.
Before it's too late for her.
About the Author:
I started writing when I was seven or eight. I remembers playing with an old mechanical typewriter my mother owned. I never looked back. I love inventing worlds, creating characters, and bringing something into the world that wasn’t there before. I hope people like my work, but really, I write for myself, and always have.
My first sale was to a now-defunct online magazine called Espionage. They paid me for a story I wrote, and almost published it, but the magazine went defunct before it could appear online. That hurt a lot. I never got to see my first sell out in the world.
Buoyed by my success, I wrote and submitted another story to Analog Science Fiction & Fact, who bought it. I had made a professional sale! My first two stories were paid for and people liked them! The validation of years worth of practice gave me the courage to send out more work--and I’ve collected more than fifty rejections.
Goes with the territory, they say. I’ve also made a few more sales. So, the beat goes on!
